While my first novel is at my developmental editor, I have started on the next book in the series.
What Have I Written So Far?
I am still in the general plotting stages of Book 2 in the series, but I hope to start writing next week or the week after that. I am incredibly excited to start writing again!
Where Am I In The Process?
I have delivered book 1 to the editor, and I have picked up index cards to start my plotting for book 2. This means I pull out my hair in random intervals as I try to push myself through the plotting process (I am a pantser at heart).
Pantser = An author who writes their story without a plan or an outline.
In book 2, I have the beginning and the end and some of the stuff in the middle. But there is a lot to do and figure out. Like, what should go where, and where will the main character bring us in this book? And why do I struggle to write the word characther, caracter, character?
What I can share from book 2 is that it will have a grumpy AI and cool space stuff. Because who doesn't like cool space technology that could save the world but is instead used to trim somebody's dog?
What's Next?
In the next couple of weeks, I will balance the plot of book 2 and write the forever dreaded synopsis of Shattered Ice. I might also change the look of my website and make some fun coasters out of clay. It will be a time of ever-increasing nerves until my development editor hands back the manuscript dipped in red ink. Or something like that; I honestly will procrastinate until that time.
It is, after all, the end of 2022, and soon we will start the New Year. The year I will (if all goes well) publish my first novel!
